Get involved by donating your own produce or enroll in the program to have trained volunteers harvest for you. Volunteers are needed to harvest produce or help promote this program that delivers bounty to local families.
Jim Roehrig is spreading the word about the Backyard Bounty Program run by the Foodbank of Santa Barbara County. Jim and a group of 74 volunteers will come to your home and pick surplus fruit from your trees and distribute to local families.
The Foodbank plays a vital role in the health of Santa Barbara County. Their mission is to provide nourishment to those in need by acquiring and distributing safe nutritious foods. For the last 26 years, the Foodbank of Santa Barbara County has been the leading hunger-relief organization in the County.
Backyard Bounty program needs volunteers to pick fruit and vegetable from local sites ensuring no Food is wasted.

- Great for teens, groups and community service hours
Harvesting typically takes place on Saturday mornings when host properties have been prearranged.
Time: 9:00 am - 12/1:00 pm
All fruits and vegetables are acceptable donations are tax-deductible. They also provide information on proper training and pruning techniques to maintain healthy fruit trees.
